Week 4 – Presentation

We presented our 50+ documents on Tuesday. Each person chose a space to layout their work, I choose a combination of table and wall space as I wanted to try and make my area seem as if it could be a cafe space. To show this I brought in plates and cutlery as well and branded cups from the cafe. It was a challenge to think of different ways of displaying and grouping documents. I didn’t want it to seem as if I had just taken a bunch of images and thrown them on the wall so I tried to be thoughtful about how each set of images were displayed and mixing up sizing and orientation to create a more diverse display. Alongside images I tried to incorporate as many mix media pieces as I could as well as mixing up materials used such as tracing paper, card, collage, ground coffee, coffee beans and layering pieces. In the end I was quite happy with how my display turned out and I think I managed to show things in a few different ways which was hopefully eye-catching and effective.

The class was split into groups and as individuals we went around and did post it note critiques on each display from the others in our group. It was really interesting to see the different approaches, techniques and ideas people had used and think about how I could potentially incorporate some of those into my own work moving forward.
